A Database Management System (DBMS) is a software package with computer programs that control the creation, maintenance, and the use of a database, Codd, E.F. (1970). It allows organizations to conveniently develop databases for various applications by database administrators (DBAs) and other specialists. A database is an integrated collection of data records, files, and other database objects needed by an application. Review of Relevant Literature

2.1     Vocational Development and Career Counselling

Career development  theories  propose  vocational   models  that  include changes  throughout  the  lifespan.  Super’s model  proposes  a  lifelong  five-stage career development process. The stages are growth, exploration, establishment, maintenance, and disengagement. Throughout life, people have many roles that may differ in terms of importance and meaning. Gottfredson  proposed a cognitive career decision-making process that develops through the lifespan. The initial stage of career development is hypothesized to be the development of self-image in childhood, as the range of possible roles narrows using criteria such as sex-type, social class, and prestige. During and after adolescence, people take abstract concepts into consideration, such as interests.

Career counselling may include provision of occupational information, modelling skills, written exercises, and exploration of career goals and plans, Rahardja (2008). Career counselling can also involve the use of personality or career interest assessments, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which is based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological type, or the Strong Interest Inventory, which makes use of Holland’s theory. Assessments of skills, abilities, and values are also commonly assessed in career counselling. [Read more…]

  • LITERATURE REVIEW

Most hospitality companies, even small independent units operate several businesses. A bed and breakfast operation will provide accommodation, a meal and perhaps a bar or licensed area for recreation. The larger the hospitality business the more difficult it is to define precisely the nature of the business.

Levitt (1999) suggested that the product led definitions of a business such as Hotel and catering’ are not helpful and may distract the strategic policy makers in the formulation of effective long term action plans.

He maintains that the definitions of the business should be in terms of its customers satisfying ability in which the hotel and catering operation may be described as serviced accommodation for short stay travelers. Emphasis in the example is place on the rooms the provision of food and beverages is subordinate to this main aim and may even be provided on concession arrangement by another company. [Read more…]

           SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

3.1 INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the system analysis phase is to carry out an investigation into the existing system used in student performance evaluation. System analysis requires the system developers to attempt to understand the existing system, how it evolved into the present and what future requirement may be demanded of.

To understand what is actually required of the new system development systems, system analysis is vital and indeed integral to systems development. System analysis process is usually broken down into two major activities: Data gathering and data analysis [Read more…]
