Building drawing, also known as drafting or draughting, is the act and discipline of composing plans that visually communicate how something functions or has to be constructed. Drafting is the visual language of industry and engineering. A drafter, draftsperson, or draughtsman is a person who makes drawing (Building or otherwise). A professional drafter who makes Building drawings is sometimes called a drafting technician (David 2000.) People who communicate with Building drawings, (those who design and those who are trades people), may use Building standards that define practical symbols, perspectives, units of measurement, notation systems, visual styles, or layout conventions. These enable a drafter to communicate more concisely by using a commonly understood convention. INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Technology:The National council on Education (NCE) at its meeting at Ibadan in December 2005 approached a new Basic Education curriculum structure for primary and Junior Secondary schools in line with the universal Basic Education Programme. The Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) revised the primary and Junior Secondary school curriculum in compliance with NCE directives.

The new Basic Education curriculum is designed to responds to ideals of millennium Development Goals (MDGS) the goals of Education for all (EFA) as well the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS). The Basic Education curriculum lays a strong foundation for functional numeracy and literacy, basic scientific and technological skills as well as ethical and moral values. The development of Basic Education curriculum has necessitated the need to not only revise the existing school text, but also to develop new ones in employed subjects, and that give birth to basic technology which was brought out from formal introductory technology.
